Ekklesia — Jesus Said He Would Build What? Part 1 with Hope Taylor (Podcast #5)

It’s stunning what Jesus said: “I will build my EKKLESIA.”

What? He could have said “synagogue.” Or “temple.” But he said this word.

It was a secular Greek concept and word. Later, the Romans adopted it as well. The meaning is a called-out assembly of citizens who gather together. Their objective was to bring the rule and culture of the emperor and the empire to a new area.

Is Jesus looking for his church to colonize the earth with his world … the Kingdom of God? If so, this is much bigger than “attending church.”

What can this mean for you as a Christ-follower? And what should it mean for local churches?
